2007 Triathlon and Duathlon Results and News Coverage

 

Race: 1K swim in Lake Aspen, 35K bike over gentle rollers and 11K run with two hills. Start: Lake Aspen Office Park
Finish: Lower Naches Park (Gleed Park)

Entry fee: $70 for individuals, $115 for teams, $60 for duathlon
(non-USAT entry fees, add an additional $10 per participant for any non-USAT member)

USA Triathlon Sanctioned Event Valley of the Sun will be sanctioning with USA Triathlon again this year. If you are a member of USAT, this does not affect your entry fee. If you are not a member of USAT, there is a one-day license fee of $10. (NEW PRICE - USAT raised from $9 oto $10)

The 25th annual Valley of the Sun Triathlon, one of Washington States oldest continuously run triathlons, will be held Sunday July 8, 2007.

Swim - The swim will start at 8:00 a.m. sharp on the east shore of Lake Aspen. Triathletes will swim approximately 1000 yards clockwise around the perimeter of Lake Aspen.

Bike - The bike portion is a 22 mile ride along the Naches river through Naches to Gleed Park.

Run - The run is 7 miles in the foothill between Selah and Gleed.

Finish - The finish line is located at the southwest corner of Gleed Park. Historically the race is won in a time of about 1 hour 48 minutes for the men's division, and about 2 hours 3 minutes for the women.

Duathlon

This year's event includes a 3 mile run, 35K bike, 3 mile run Duathlon .. for more information on the Duathlon

Weather - The weather conditions for the race should be calm with temperatures between 90-100 degrees. Water temperatures at Lake Aspen are around 72°.

Race limit: The Valley of the Sun Triathlon is limited to 200 individual triathletes ... register early.

Packet pickup - Lake Aspen on Saturday, July 7th from 5:00 pm to about 7:00-7:30 pm. Also, participants can check in on Sunday morning starting at 6:00 am.
