Triathlon Course

Swim: 1000 yards

The swim course is a 1000-yard counter-clockwise rectangle in Lake Aspen. The lake is located at the north end of 16th Ave near Highway 12. The start and finish points are at the northeast corner of the lake.

Bike: 35 Km - Change in Course this year !!!!

There will most likely be a minor adjustment in the first part of the bike course and as soon as it has been decided, we'll get it up on the website.

The bike course starts at the Lake Aspen Office Park. Ride out of the complex, turn right (South) on 16th Ave. and proceed South to Fruitvale Blvd (there is a traffic light at that intersection). Turn right (West) and proceed west on Fruitvale Blvd. At 34th Ave, where you usually cross Fruitvale Blvd while on River Rd, turn left and then take an IMMEDIATE right onto River Rd.*

Proceed West on Castlevale Road, cross 40th Ave where the road then becomes Powerhouse Road. Proceed West and the road name changes again to South Naches Road. Take South Naches Road where it goes into a very rural and scenic area with gentle rolling hills and fruit orchards, across State Rout 12 into the Town of Naches. There will be several well marked turns that will take you onto the Old Naches Highway and the remainder of the bike course is rolling hills through fruit orchards and farmhouses. Several miles out of Naches is a significant climb of about 1/2 mile. The bike-to-run transition area is at the Lower Naches Grange at the Lower Naches Park (locally known as Gleed Park). This is where the run begins and ends and is the site of all post-race activities.

*there that it is a slim possibility that River Road may be useable however that is unlikely. If it is useable, we will notify riders the day of the race and then the route is as it always has been.

Run: 11Km

The run course takes place in the rural area around Gleed. It is a counter-clockwise loop of 11 kilometers on paved roads through areas of farms and fruits orchards. The run course has a steep one mile hill around the 3 mile mark which is followed by another hill which is shorter (1/2 mile) and not as steep.

Typically it becomes quite warm during the run so hydration during the race is important.

Duathlon Run Course

The VOTS Duathon is a 3 mile run, 35 K bike, 3 mile run. Participants will exit Lake Aspen Office Park and then turn North (left) onto the Greenway. They'll run approximately 1 1/2 miles to Lake Myron where there will be a water station. Then, they will turn around, come back to Lake Aspen and get on their bikes and from Lake Aspen Office Park, go South on 16th Ave to Fruitvale, turn right (West) and then turn left onto Castlevale, where they used to cross Fruitvale from River Road. Take Castlevale and link up with Powerhouse Rd and proceed to 40th Ave and cross there.
